A subsidiary of TLC Family Health

Welcome to Low-Price Labs!

How Low?

Check out these prices:

NOTE: The amazing prices we offer are facilitated by being a subsidiary of TLC Family Health, but
this page only applies to those who
not members of TLC Family Health, who get even lower prices!*

See our Lab Pricing page to review our lab options, descriptions, and prices (contact us for a quote for any desired lab test not listed, or if you have any questions). Labs may be drawn at TLC Family Health, LabCorp (scattered throughout Texas and in most states), or CPL (Clinical Pathology Laboratories - scattered throughout Texas and Louisiana and, on a more limited basis, in six other states).

To have labs done:

Simply 1) sign up for free with the Low Price Labs plan of TLC Family Health, then 2) fill out a Lab Agreement and Request Form.

In addition, you must either:

  1. Have a signed order from a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner (which you would upload while filling out the Lab Agreement and Request Form), to which the results will also be sent (if a lab is ordered that is not listed, we will provide you with the price before charging you)

  2. Have had a previously abnormal lab (upload previous results while filling out the Lab Agreement and Request Form)

  3. Have a 20-minute VIDEO consultation with Dr. Cluff (book the appointment HERE) to help determine which tests are needed, followed by another 20-minute visit afterwards if any of the tests are abnormal (each 20-minute visit costs $75)

  4. Request tests that are recommended by the USPSTF (United States Preventive Services Task Force) or another official entity for screening or public health purposes. The full list of tests that may be requested without meeting any of the above (3) criteria appears on the Lab Agreement and Request Form (some examples include a cholesterol panel, fasting glucose, or HIV test)

  5. Request a pregnancy blood test (HCG quant), and agree that if it is positive you will seek the necessary prenatal care.

  6. Request a fecal occult blood (FOB) test (for colon cancer screening), and agree that if it is positive you will obtain a colonoscopy (e.g., from a gastroenterologist). The sample is taken at home, so the kit must either be picked up from our office or mailed to you (mailing costs an extra $10). The kit is pre-stamped for return through the mail.

  7. Desire a Vitamin B12 shot, but are required to obtain a Vitamin B12 level prior to receiving one.

  8. Request a testosterone test, and if low you may sign up for our Low-Price Low T plan.

Q: WHY CAN I NOT REQUEST ANY TEST I DESIRE WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT ANY OF THE ABOVE, ESPECIALLY IF I’M PAYING FOR IT?

A: Although all tests have normal and abnormal ranges, some unaffected individuals may have abnormal tests (i.e., false-positives, especially if results are barely outside of the normal range) and some affected individuals may have normal tests (i.e., false-negatives). The lower the pre-test probability (likelihood of having a disease based on symptoms and risk factors), the higher chance for a false-positive result. False-positive results have multiple negative consequences, such as causing undue stress (very common in the “worried well”) and driving up health care costs (as additional consultations and testing are needed, much or most of which are paid for by insurance, if you have it). All of these issues can be better understood by consulting with a qualified physician.

WHAT’S NEXT

(1).JPG

There is no charge for doing so. This will automatically create a chart for you, and you will soon receive an invitation to join the Elation Passport patient portal, through which you will receive the results.

(2).JPG

While doing so, you will specify which labs you desire, and if applicable, upload either the doctor’s orders or previously abnormal lab results. Prices and lab descriptions are found on our Lab Pricing page.

(3).JPG

You will receive an invitation to join shortly after signing up. We will inform you when the labs are confirmed, after which we will charge the payment method you entered when you signed up. You will then be able to schedule your lab draw.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE YOUR LABS DRAWN AT A CPL DRAW STATION

  • Please send us a message through the patient portal and let us know. We will send the orders electronically, but will also send you a PDF through the portal for you to print and take with you as a backup.

  • There is a $10 processing and draw fee.

  • You do not need to tell us which CPL draw station, as all orders are sent electronically to their system.

  • Usually CPL accepts walk-ins, but you may set up an appointment by contacting them directly.

  • Be sure NOT to pay CPL anything. We indicate “Client bill” on the order, which means for them to bill us.

Q: HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY RESULTS?

A: Lab results will be sent to you through the patient portal (and to the ordering physician, if applicable). Lab results often come the next day, but they may take longer, especially if a “reflex” lab or more complex or uncommon test is ordered (a “reflex” test is one that requires further testing if positive - see our Lab Pricing page for more information).

*Members of TLC Family Health receive even more significant discounts. If you are a member, do not use this page or associated forms to request labs.  Instead, contact Dr. Cluff through the patient portal, book an appointment to discuss, or set up a labs-only appointment if you need labs done. If you are not a member, visit our Home Page to learn more about his Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice, or watch this two-minute video for a quick introduction.
